Quincy man finds out you can’t hide from a police dog

Once again, a suspect in Grant County found out the hard way about the power of a police dog.

This time, the owner of a stolen car spotted his vehicle near Winchester on Thursday.

As sheriff’s deputies arrived, the suspect, 28-year-old Joshua D. Avalos, ran into a random house and refused to come out of a storage area, the Grant County Sheriff’s office reported.

Deputies sent in K9 Chewbacca to persuade him otherwise.

Chewy bit Avalos in the forearm after finding him hiding behind mattresses, then latched onto his shoulder and held him for arrest.

Last week, a Moses Lake Police dog was turned loose on a man suspected of assaulting a police officer. That man fared no better.
