CHELAN COUNTY- The Chelan County Public Works Department will be busy this week cleaning up and rebuilding the shoulder between mileposts 10 and 12 on the Malaga-Alcoa Highway.
Flash floods late Thursday night came down at least four draws and canyons along that stretch of roadway, leaving behind rock and debris. Crews will be hauling large rock to the site to rebuild the shoulders. Smaller, screened material then will be placed over it.
Motorists should avoid the area this week if they can. There will be heavy truck traffic. The work area will be one lane, with flaggers controlling traffic. Expect minor delays. Crews also will be brooming along Number 1 Canyon, Number 2 Canyon and Halverson roads, where the rain event also left some smaller debris.
