Procession for soldier killed in Afghanistan will go from East Wenatchee to Leavenworth on Sunday

Intersections will be temporarily closed

A funeral procession for Leavenworth soldier Sgt. Leandro Jasso, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, will make its way from East Wenatchee to Leavenworth Sunday.

The procession is being managed by local law enforcement agencies in Chelan and Douglas counties, who advise motorists to expect delays on the route.

Departing from Heritage Memorial Chapel funeral home at about 9:30 a.m., the procession will head north on Valley Mall Parkway to Sunset Highway, then east on Highway 2 to Leavenworth, where services will be held at Cascade High School at 11 a.m.

Intersections along the route will be temporarily closed as the procession passes.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office says if the public would like to show its respects, the recommended viewing areas are Valley Mall Parkway and along Highway 2 from Riverbend Drive to the Chumstick Highway.
