Primary election certified, Tyler qualifies for November general election

WENATCHEE- Chelan County Deputy Jennifer Tyler, a late entry into the race for Chelan County Sheriff, has qualified for the November 6th general election.

Chelan County Auditor Skip Moore made that official today during the meeting of the Canvassing board.

“Jennifer Tyler was a write-in candidate and she’s submitted her filing form, she received 620 votes of those write ins,” Moore said during the meeting. “That’s 4.64 percent, which meets the threshold of moving on to the general election. The requirement there was one percent.”

A jury in March awarded Tyler over $500,000 in damages from the department in a civil suit alleging she was retaliated against after she testified in a 2008 case that helped send an Oklahoma sheriff to prison on rape charges.

Incumbent sheriff Brian Burnett received over 95% of the votes cast.
