Final Games This Week to Determine Playoffs

WENATCHEE, WA – It all comes down to this week as many fall sports seasons reach their final games across North Central Washington. And for many leagues, the final few games will determine playoff seeding and regular season titles…
Such is the case in high school soccer. In what will be a preview of Saturday’s Caribou Trail League District Championship, Cascade hosts Cashmere tonight at 6:30 in Leavenworth. Tonight’s game will determine the outright regular season champ as the Kodiaks are 7-and-oh in league while the Bulldogs are 6-and-1. Win or lose, they’ll play a rematch Saturday at 6 in the Apple Bowl.

Wenatchee plays its regular season finale tonight in the Apple Bowl with Eisenhower in town. It’s senior night for the Panthers, and homecoming week, and we’ll broadcast tonight’s game with Eric Granstrom and Matt Wisen on the call. Wenatchee’s currently in 3rd place in the Big 9 with 2nd place Moses Lake playing at Davis. 1st place Eastmont has the night off and will play at Moses Lake Thursday to end the season. The top two teams advance to next week’s district playoffs while the 3rd through 6th place teams have to compete in District Play-In games this Saturday.

Chelan also concludes the regular season today at home against Okanogan while Manson wraps up the B schedule with senior day against Tonasket.

Seahawks Back at Practice Following Bye Week

The Seahawks are back at practice after the bye week, trying to move forward after the death of team owner, Paul Allen. Head Coach Pete Carroll says he’s provided the message to the team that nothing will change…

The Seahawks are 3-and-3 on the season and will be in Detroit Sunday to face the Lions. Carroll says it was great to see linebacker KJ Wright and tight end Ed Dickson back in practice Monday…

Wright is back after recovering from a knee injury. In his absence, the Seahawks had to be creative defensively, including moving Bartavius Mingo to a linebacker position off the line. Coach Carroll says he’s exciting to get KJ back but also impressed with what his absence created…

Detroit is also 3-and-3 in a very tight NFC North. The Seahawks trail the red-hot Rams in the NFC West with L-A the only NFL team undefeated at 7-and-oh. Sunday’s kickoff in Detroit is at 10am on FOX.

World Series Begins with Dodgers at Red Sox Tonight

Game 1 features 3-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers and 7-time All Start Chris Sale for the Red Sox. First pitch on FOX is at 5:09pm.
