Port of Chelan County will move to Pangborn Airport

Building will be purchased for $4 million

Port of Chelan County commissioners are expected to sign off on plans to purchase the former Executive Flight building at Pangborn Airport.

The building currently serves as home base for the Port of Douglas County.

Port of Chelan County Executive Director Jim Kuntz says the port will purchase the building and attached hangar for $4 million.

The building will serve as the new headquarters for the recently formed Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority.

That entity effectively represents a merger of the two ports.

The port authority will have about 25 employees working out of the building, Kuntz said.

He says Chelan County’s existing headquarters at Olds Station will be leased out for private business development. Commissioners will meet Wednesday to formalize the property deal.

“We believe having our headquarters near or at the Pangborn Memorial Airport makes the most sense because that is one of the biggest assets that we manage,” Kuntz said.
