EAST WENATCHEE — A 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg Saturday in a broad-daylight shooting that police say appears related to gang activity.

Multiple shots were fired in the altercation near Ninth Street Northeast and North Baker Avenue, reported at 1:28 p.m. East Wenatchee police said the gunfire broke out after “one group of individuals had arrived at a residence near this location to confront another group.”

The victim, an East Wenatchee resident, received a wound to the leg and was taken by a private vehicle to Central Washington Hospital immediately after being shot, police said. He was treated and discharged after about three hours.

Police said the gunfire appears to be gang-related, and followed another unreported criminal incident from several days before. Police Chief Rick Johnson said several search warrants were served over the weekend as part of an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been reported.
