ROCK ISLAND — Wenatchee Valley narcotics investigators say they found nearly two pounds of heroin and 14 ounces of methamphetamine hidden under grass clippings when they searched a Rock Island yard late last month.
Jose Villanueva-Montes, 45, was charged with drug possession with intent to sell after the Columbia River Drug Task Force searched his home in the 500 block of Second Street Southeast on June 26. During that search, they allegedly discovered 818 grams of heroin, or about 1.8 pounds, and 405 grams of meth inside various thermoses and travel mugs that had been buried in piles of grass clippings in the backyard.
Detectives got the search warrant to for Villanueva’s home after he allegedly sold drugs to a police informant in Wenatchee. He’s been jailed since the June 26 search, and faces felony drug charges in both Chelan and Douglas counties.
