PESHASTIN – A trial date will be set on April 4th for a Peshastin man accused of five counts of first-degree child rape and one count of second degree child rape.

51-year old Theron J. Heideman also faces three counts of child molestation and two counts of incest alleging he sexually abused four children while in his care dating back to 2001.

Heideman has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Heideman remains in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on $100,000 bond. Between 1999 and 2009, members of his family made multiple allegations of abuse to the sheriff’s office and Child Protective Services, but those investigations never resulted in criminal charges or CPS intervention.

Three of his adult children are now suing the Department of Social and Health Services, accusing the agency of failing to protect them when they were minors. That case is scheduled for trial in August in Douglas County Superior Court.
