Panthers Win Epic Battle over Eastmont

WHS over EHS Volleyball

Wenatchee Upends Eastmont in 5-Game Thriller

WENATCHEE, WA – For the second time this season and 5th out of the last 7 meetings, Wenatchee and Eastmont took five games to determine a winner in volleyball. And for the first time out of those 5 occasions, the Panthers picked up the victory…
In an epic 2-hour and 20-minute battle at Wenatchee High School, Wenatchee fought off one come back after another by Eastmont in the 5th and deciding game, winning the match 3-2.

The Wildcats came out on fire, winning the opening game 25-20. The Panthers got the early jump in game 2, winning 26-24. Eastmont regained momentum in game 3, winning 25-22. Then, facing defeat, the Panthers survived a 10-minute, in-game delay on a scoring-slash-rotation glitch to come out on top 25-18.

So once again, it would go down to the first-to-15 5th and deciding game. Wenatchee raced out to an early lead and looked like they’d cruise to victory. But then Eastmont came storming back to tie it and push it to extra points. Eric Granstrom and LeAnne Branam had the exciting call on the NCWLIFE Channel…

With the win, Wenatchee and Eastmont are tied for second in the Big 9 standings. Back to the Les Schwab scoreboard for other games from last night, Chelan blanked Cashmere 3-0; Brewster topped Manson 3-games-to-none; and Waterville-Mansfield got a 3-0 win on the road at Oroville.

Eastmont Leapfrogs Wenatchee into Big 9 Soccer Lead

On the Les Schwab Soccer Scoreboard…
Wenatchee has been bumped out of first place in the Big 9 as the Panthers fell on the road in overtime at West Valley last night 2-1. Coach John Springer tells us Olivia Bowman scored the Panther’s lone goal on an assist by Jaden Griggs.

Meanwhile, Jayden Brown scored the only goal for Eastmont in the final two minutes of regulation as the Wildcats edged Davis 1-nil. So Eastmont moves into 1st place with 26 while Wenatchee is tied with Moses Lake, who blanked Sunnyside last night 7-nil, at 24-points apiece.

In other action, Cashmere topped Chelan 8-1 and Brewster was a 3-1 winner against Manson.
