It was a come-from-behind victory for Fire District 4’s property tax levy lid lift after the latest voting results were released Friday by Douglas County.
The levy passed by a mere six votes, 287-281. It had been trailing by 10 votes prior to Friday’s count. The election will be certified Nov. 27.
The levy, will increase the rate property owners pay by about $3.20 per month for each $100,000 of assessed value, or taxes on a $200,000 home would rise from $117 annually to $194.
It will pay to relocate Station No. 3 into a new building, as well as pay for trucks and other firefighting equipment.
The district is based in Orondo and serves much of the surrounding area.
