The National Parks Service will host a public meeting to discuss the status of the closed section of the Upper Stehekin Valley Road and other current NPS activities in the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area on Tuesday, May 23 at Campbell’s resort starting at 6 p.m.

The road closed following a catastrophic flood in 2003 which washed out a section of the road and forced the parks service to close a portion of it, restricting access for recreationists looking to use the road to reach areas like the Cottonwood Camp and the Cascade Pass.

A second town-hall style meeting is scheduled on May 24 in Stehekin, which will include a brief presentation by park staff followed by an open Q&A.
