A surface area of low pressure will show some deepening and intensification today as it becomes positioned over Southern Alberta. As it does so, it will increase southwest winds over the forecast area today and as such our weather will be windy and gusty at times. Northcentral Washington can expect partly cloudy skies and windy weather today out of the northwest 20-25 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph, cooler too, with afternoon highs in the lower to mid-60’s.
To start our long Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, a shortwave ridge of high pressure moves into the region as the large low-pressure system continues to shift eastward. It will bring much warmer temperatures and dry weather. Saturday will be the start of a warming trend with afternoon highs warming 5-10 degrees from the cooler temperatures on Friday. Look for sunny skies, light west wind and afternoon high temperatures into the lower and mid 70’s.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy as a weak trough of low-pressure slides through the ridge but, expect warmer temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 70’s.
Our ridge of high pressure intensifies into early next week with partly cloudy skies expected for Memorial Day with afternoon high temperatures in the md to upper 70’s.
Tuesday and Wednesday look great with mostly sunny skies each day and warmer with highs Tuesday near 80 degrees and lower 80’s for high temperatures on Wednesday.
