The North Cascades Highway will be reopened Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Each year, the state holds a ceremony as the Highway 20 pass connecting the Methow and Skagit valleys reopens for the season.
Washington State Department of Transportation crews began clearing snow from the highway April 5.
In some places, the snow was as deep as 7 feet.
Still, the reopening comes earlier than last year when the pass was reopened May 12.
In 1974, it wasn’t until June 14 that the state had the highway cleared.
