Nine AppleSox make post-season All-WCL list


The West Coast League is out with its All-League selections and nine members of the Wenatchee AppleSox were listed…

Nine AppleSox make All-WCL List

Pitcher Jake Saum was the only Wenatchee player to make the All-WCL First Team. Second-Team selections for the AppleSox were catcher Hunter Montgomery; shortstop Kody Darcy; and outfielder Ryan Altenberger. All-West Coast League Honorable Mentions went to the Wenatchee’s Blake Klassen, Kodie Kolden, Seth Kuykendall and Cole McKenzie.

Corvallis slugger Briley Knight was chosen the West Coast League’s MVP. The Knight’s Tevite Gerber was picked the Pitcher of the Year. And Coach of the Year honors went to Brooke Night of the Corvallis Knights, his 6th time receiving that award.

Yankees slug 3 homers to beat M’s

Keeping with the baseball theme…a four-run second inning helped the Yankees top the Mariners 5-4 last night at T-Mobile Park…

Mike Ford hit a 3-run homer in the second inning and then a solo shot in the 4th off Tommy Milone to lead New York. Milone dropped to 3-and-8 on the season with the loss, allowing all 5-runs on 8-hits with one strikeout and 2-walks.

Dylan Moore tried to answer for Seattle with a three-run home run, his second long-ball in as many nights. But the Mariners could only muster 4-hits against five Yankee pitchers and struck out 14-times. The win went to J.A. Happ, who went 5-innings, allowing 3-runs on 2-hits and 7-strikeouts.

The two teams meet again tonight at 7:10 with Masahiro Tanaka facing the Mariner’s Yusei Kikuchi.

Marcus Simien had a 3-run home run and collected SEVEN RBI’s as Oakland pounded Kansas City 19-to-4. The A’s had 22-hits in the game, four of which home runs and scored in every inning but the first.
