ISSAQUAH — Eighth District U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier is chairing a caucus task force on the upcoming national Farm Bill.
Schrier is a member of the New Democrat Coalition, and as the task force chair, she’ll lead Farm Bill policy for the caucus' 100 members in the House of Representatives. The Farm Bill funds a number of important agricultural, food, and forestry programs, including food stamp benefits, and it must be reauthorized every five years.
Schrier held a seat on the House Agriculture Committee during her first two terms, but was displaced when Republicans took control of the House this year. She plans a number of listening sessions to discuss Farm Bill issues around the 8th District, starting Friday in Puyallup.
