Shards of car glass on the street-auto accident-crash

WENATCHEE — Wenatchee police say a hit-and-run driver sideswiped a small passenger car with his truck on Friday, and was apparently carrying a firearm illegally at the time.

Ryan Thomas Letts, 39, of East Wenatchee remained jailed today after the collision on eastbound Highway 2 near Sunnyslope. Police say Letts’ pickup was traveling erratically and sideswiped a Honda Fit, then kept going across the Odabashian Bridge into East Wenatchee. No one was injured.

When police met Letts at his home, they say they found empty alcohol containers in and around his truck. When the vehicle was impounded and searched, it allegedly held a 9mm pistol in the console and ammunition for several other firearms.

Letts has prior criminal convictions that bar him from owning firearms. He was jailed on suspicion of hit-and-run and illegal firearm possession.
