WENATCHEE — An 18-year-old Wenatchee man was jailed Thursday on suspicion of multiple sexual assaults, two of them committed against girls attending parties at a Wenatchee apartment where he was staying.

Wenatchee police say Uziel Gerardo "Jay" Lopez-Moreno raped a 16-year-old victim at a July 4 party at the apartment on Castlerock Avenue, while the alleged victim was intoxicated and unable to consent.

When others at the party discovered the alleged assault, police said, they attacked and beat Lopez. The alleged victim disclosed the incident in late August.

During the investigation, detectives allegedly found two other people who also said Lopez had sexually assaulted them. One 14-year-old said Lopez restrained and raped her at another gathering at the Castlerock apartment last May. Another person said Lopez fondled her without consent at a Cashmere residence in July 2020, according to police court affidavits filed upon his arrest.

Police took Lopez into custody at his Wenatchee home on Thursday. He faces possible charges of second-degree rape and indecent liberties.
