New Okanogan County fire has burned about 4,500 acres

Firefighters are dealing with yet another wildfire in Okanogan County that broke out over the weekend, this one called the Lower Coyote Creek Fire southwest of Nespelem.

The fire started early Sunday afternoon and by Monday afternoon had burned about 4,500 acres.

The Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team took command of firefighting efforts Monday afternoon.

Both aerial and ground crews have been battling the fire burning in brush and timber.

The fire is just a few miles from the Greenhouse Fire that started Aug. 1 and burned more than 5,000 acres before being fully contained.
