A new department head will oversee economic development in Chelan County with the creation of a new director’s position. Commissioner Bob Bugert explains the position will be funded through a dedicated account. Commissioner Doug England says the position will be created initially is a three-year pilot project.
Commissioner Bugert says the new director will also serve as a liaison between the County and the soon-to-be-established consolidated Chelan/Douglas County port districts. Commissioners say they will conduct a nationwide search for a prospective candidate. It’s a salaried position that will pay up to 80-thousand dollars annually.
