A 27-year-old rural Moses Lake man was shot and killed Sunday morning and his 48-year-old neighbor arrested.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said about 8:15 a.m. deputies and Moses Lake Police responded to a report of gunfire at a residence on Arlington Drive in the Larson Community area.

They reported finding Danual D. Surface on the back porch of the residence at 1106 Arlington Drive. The sheriff’s office said the man was transported to Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported that the victim had been arguing with David R. Hagar when Hagar pulled a gun and fired several times at Surface.

Hagar allegedly then went to his nearby residence and returned with a knife and stabbed Surface.

Deputies were able to arrest Hagar without incident at his home. He was lodged in the Grant County Jail to await charges for first-degree murder.
