National Run with the Cops to support Wenatchee Special Olympics

WENATCHEE- There’s still time to register for Saturday’s Run With The Cops benefit 5 and 2K run.

It’s the first time for the National event to held in the Wenatchee Valley. Captain Edgar Reinfeld with the Wenatchee Police Department says all proceeds go to the Washington State Special Olympics.

“The police departments all across the country doing the largest fundraisers through the law enforcement torchlight program for Special Olympics,” Reinfeld said. “Wenatchee Police Department is a top ten organization for fundraising in the State of Washington for Special Olympics, so is Douglas County. All the local agencies can easily get into the top ten if we keep having events like these and they’re successful.”

Reinfeld said this is just one of a series of events this each year including Tip a Cop and Polar Plunge to continue to help local Special Olympics athletes.

It may be too late to register online but you can register in person Saturday evening at 6 p.m. prior to the start at Fred Meyer in East Wenatchee.
