A 28-year-old Moses Lake woman and her 8-year-old daughter were injured Wednesday morning when their vehicle collided with a potato truck on Highway 17 about eight miles south of Moses Lake.

Isable Marie Ramirez was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake and her daughter was taken by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

The daughter’s injuries were serious but did not appear to be life-threatening, said Trooper John Bryant of the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened about 9:10 a.m. at the junction of Highway 17 and Road 4 Southeast about eight moles south of Moses Lake.

Bryant said the cause of the accident has not yet been determined but the 1993 Nissan Sentra being driven by Ramirez struck the rear left of the potato truck being driven by Rosalio Garza-Perez, 68, of Othello.

Bryant said potato harvest is in full swing in that area with numerous trucks coming and going on that section of highway.
