Chiefs Hold On For 66-63 Victory Against Wildcats

(East Wenatchee, WA)…Eastmont locked into a back-and-forth contest with Moses Lake Saturday night at Eastmont High School with the Chiefs coming out on top 66-63.

JR Alvarez helped Eastmont get off to a good start as the ‘Cats took a 17-12 lead after one. The Chief’s Zach Phillips lead a drive for Moses Lake as the Chiefs grabbed a 32-28 halftime lead.

Eastmont was slow out of the gate in the 3rd quarter while Phillips scored 11 of his game-high 29-points in the frame to push Moses Lake to a 47-36 lead by the end of the third.

Stephen Mitchell started a rally for Eastmont in the 4th with three, three-pointers.  Anthony Lisson hit another three with under three minutes remaining to shave the lead to three. Brandon Wilson then nailed the 5th three pointer for the Wildcats in the quarter with 25.8 seconds left to make it 65-63 Chiefs.

Eastmont fouled Cory Kunjara on the inbounds pass and watched him make the first.  The second missed and Wilson came down with the rebound with 18-seconds remaining.  Trailing 66-63, they worked the ball to Lisson for a 3-point attempt with 10-seconds left, but it missed and Moses Lake got the rebound and called a timeout.  The Chiefs successfully inbounded the ball following a timeout and came out with the three-point win.

Zach Phillips finished with 29-points to lead Moses Lake while Evan McLean had 15.  JR Alvarez paced Eastmont with 15 while Brandon Wilson and Anthony Lisson had 11 and Stephen Mitchell finished with 10.  The Wildcats fell to 3-7 in Columbia Basin Big Nine play with the loss while the Chiefs improved to 7-2.
