Meth package’s alleged recipient freed from local charges to face possible federal indictment

WENATCHEE — Local prosecutors have withdrawn charges against a Wenatchee man accused of receiving a 33-pound shipment of methamphetamine, saying federal charges are forthcoming.

Francisco Sedano, 50, allegedly arranged to take delivery of a meth shipment sent to Wenatchee from California back in March. State and federal police agencies say they became aware of the scheme, intercepted the delivery near Klamath Falls, and arranged to deliver a dummy shipment instead.

They say Sedano accepted the delivery at his home March 26, and was arrested on the spot. Chelan County prosecutors initially pressed charges of drug possession and conspiracy, but now say because Sedano is likely to be charged in U.S. District Court, they’ve set aside their case. He was released from the Chelan County jail June 2.

Court records for the Eastern District of Washington do not yet show a public indictment naming Sedano in any federal crime.
