Wenatchee school board member Sunny Hemphill now has a challenger in the upcoming fall election. Hemphill has announced she intends to run for a second term.
Martin Barron announced last month his intentions to file as a candidate but did not indicate the position he was seeking. This week Barron announced he will file for Hemphill’s position 3 seat.
Barron is retired after serving as chief financial officer for Pipkin Construction for 19 years. In a prepared statement he says his financial and economic background will serve him well. He says, “board decisions must drive forward the educational process for students to achieve excellence while being responsible to the taxpayers.”
The candidate filing period is next week. There are three seats up for election this year.
