Mariners win 4th-straight with 4-1 win over A’s

The Mariners are playing their best baseball of the season at just the right time. Seattle put together another stellar night of pitching, timely hitting and good defense to beat Oakland 4-to-1 for its 4th-straight win last night…

It all started on the mound with Chris Flexen, who allowed just 1-run on 3-hits over 7-innings…

Seattle got an early lead thanks to the 35th home run of the season by Kyle Seager, and his 100th RBI…

Ty France would not be outdone as hit went deep later in the game to provide a little more cushion…

Diego Castillo pitched a perfect 8th to give way to Drew Steckenrider in the 9th to finish off the 4-1 victory…

Seattle will go for the sweep today at 12:37 when Yusei Kikuchi faces Chris Bassitt.

Even though the Mariners moved up to second place in the American League West and passed Oakland in the Wild Card Race, they were eliminated from winning the division title by Houston’s 9-5 win over the Angels. The Astros scored 4-runs in the top of the 12th to get the victory in Anaheim.

The Yankees broke a 3-3 tie on Gleybor Torres’s RBI-double in the 8th and went on to score three more in the frame to beat Texas 7-to-3.

As we check the Wild Card Race in the American League, there was another shake up. Tampa Bay secured a playoff spot with its 7-1 win over Toronto. Meanwhile, Boston beat up on former Mariner Taijuan Walker and the Mets 12-to-5.

So, the Red Sox stay a game-and-a-half in front for the first Wild Card playoff spot. New York moves into the second spot. Toronto falls a half-game back. And the Mariners leapfrog Oakland and are 2-and-a-half games back with 7-left to play.

Coach Carroll says he’s not worries bout Metcalf penalties

The NFL has made an emphasis on taunting this season, asking officials to throw more flags. Through two weeks, 11-unsportsmanlike penalties have been called across the league with three being against the Seahawks and two against wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.

Coach Pete Carroll says D.K. is learning how to be aggressive without going too far…
