The last time the Mariners were in the playoffs, Jarred Kelenic was 2-years old. The now 22-year old delivered one of the biggest hits during this amazing season for Seattle last night to help the Mariners beat Oakland 4-to-2.

American League Wild Card Race

What’s amazing is that Seattle knew before it took the field last night they’d have to win to keep pace in the Wild Card Race.
Boston beat Baltimore 6-nothing as Nathan Eovaldi and four relievers combined on a 4-hit shutout. Toronto also won, beating the Yankees on the second of Bo Bichette’s home runs 6-to-5.

New York’s lead for the top Wild Card Playoff spot has been trimmed to one. Boston’s hold on the second playoff spot is just a half-game in front of Seattle. Toronto is a full game back.

TV schedule changes with volleyball move due to bussing

We had planned to bring you volleyball at Eastmont High School tonight, but apparently the schedule was changed in the last few days so we won’t have Eastmont and West Valley tonight. According to Eastmont athletic director Russ Waterman, a bussing issue for West Valley resulted in the game having to be moved to next week.

Prep Volleyball Schedule

We can tell you that Entiat and Bridgeport played last night with the Tigers coming out on top 3-sets-to-none.

Tonight, Pateros hosts Cascade Christian at 5:30. The 6:30 matches have Cascade at Quincy; Manson hosts Oroville; Okanogan’s at Lake Roosevelt; and Tonasket travels to Liberty Bell. Wenatchee will host Moses Lake tonight at 7 while Ephrata travels to Prosser and Cashmere hosts Omak.

Prep Girls Soccer Schedule

On the prep girls soccer schedule, the Wenatchee JV will host Pateros this afternoon at 3. Coming up at 4:30, Cascade plays at Quincy; Bridgeport hosts Lake Roosevelt; and Tonasket travels to Okanogan. Ephrata plays at Othello tonight at 6. Then at 7, it’s Cashmere hosting Omak.

Prep Girls Swimming and Diving Schedule

There’s also a big swimming and diving meet today at Lions Pool in Moses Lake at 4 o’clock. Eastmont, Eisenhower, Davis and Wenatchee all gather at the Chief’s home pool.

The prep football schedule has not changed for the weekend and we’ll be at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl for Wenatchee and Sunnyside tomorrow night…

The Panthers are trying to rebound from a 28-3 loss at Eastmont last week while the Grizzlies are flying high after a 41-35 win over West Valley. Grant Olson and Eric Granstrom will call the action with our pregame beginning at 6:30 tomorrow night.

In other Big-9 play tomorrow, Eastmont travels to Eisenhower. Moses Lake has a non-league game at home against Woodinville. Davis is at West Valley.

Cascade celebrates homecoming tomorrow night against Chelan. Cashmere will entertain Quincy. Omak has a non-league game at home against Colville.

On the B-schedule, Brewster and Okanogan kick off tomorrow at 4 while Tonasket entertains Mount Baker. Manson hosts Northwest Christian at 6. Oroville will take on Lake Roosevelt at 7. Bridgeport will play at Entiat Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
