Mariners prepare to host Houston

Seattle trailed in this game 4-nothing at one point, but came all the way back with 2 in the 6th, 1 in each of the 7th and 8th, 2 in the 9th and Daniel Vogelbach’s solo home run in the 10th was the difference.

The Mariners have now hit home runs in each of its first 15-games, a Major League record. Seattle also has 36-homers on the season, tying it with the 2000 St. Louis Cardinals for the most home runs in MLB history in the first 15 games.

Seattle returns home on a six game winning streak to host the Houston Astros tonight at 7:10. It will be Wade LeBlanc on the mound against Houston’s Wade Miley.

Wenatchee split a doubleheader with Ellensburg at Walla Walla Point Park. The Panthers won the opener 9-8 while the Bulldogs took the nightcap 21-14. Pateros also defeated Manson 18-to-8.

Apparently Hanford had a tough time fielding enough players, so it goes into the books as a 1-0 win for the Thunder. Wenatchee Valley will host a very tough game tomorrow night at Lee Bofto Field with Gonzaga Prep in town at 7 o’clock.

Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco is the site for the 40-team Pasco Invitational. This even rivals the state championships for the amount, and caliber of track teams from through the northwest competing, including Eastmont and Wenatchee. It gets underway at 9am.

Not to be overshadowed for the smaller schools, Cashmere hosts its annual track invitational tomorrow with Cascade, Chelan, Quincy and a total of 10-teams. The extravaganza gets underway tomorrow at Noon.

Spring has sprung, and that means it’s time for racing up at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval…

Featured racing this weekend at the Spring Sizzler at WVSO are the Pro Late Models, Roadrunners, Thunder Cars and Northwest Mini Stock Tour. The kickoff to another season of racing at WVSO gets underway at 6 o’clock.
Also this weekend, the U-triple-S-A Softball Associations have a couple kickoff tournaments. The men will play at Walla Walla Point Park tomorrow and Sunday. The women will play throughout the weekend at Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park.
