Seattle got a combination of good pitching from Yusei Kikuch, home runs from Jarred Kelenic and Kyle Lewis as well as some great defense to beat one of the best teams in baseball.

The offense came early to support Kikuchi last night with Mitch Haniger’s RBI double in the first. Then Lewis and Kelenic added on in the 3rd and 5th…

Kikuchi earned the victory on the mound, going 6-innings and allowing 1-run on 4-hits until having to come out in the 7th with back spasms…

Manager Scott Servais says he doesn’t think it’s anything serious and was happy to snap the losing streak last night…

Seattle and Oakland will play the middle game of the three-game series tonight at 6:40 with Logan Gilbert facing Cole Irvin.

Seattle and Oakland’s game was the only one in the American League West Monday. The A’s lead in the division stands at a game over Houston. Seattle moved into 3rd place alone, 5-and-a-half games behind Oakland and a half-game in front of Texas.

There were actually two games last night on the hardwood with Cashmere topping Cascade 75-42 and Bridgeport beating Cascade Christian Academy 69-44.

Coming up tonight, Wenatchee hosts Ellensburg. Brewster plays at Ephrata. Chelan hosts Quincy. Okanogan meets Omak. Oroville travels to Lake Roosevelt. Liberty Bell hosts Pateros. And Waterville-Mansfield plays at Almira-Coulee/Hartline.

On the girl’s side last night, Cashmere crushed Cascade 59-to-6 and Bridgeport beat Cascade Christian 44-32.

The Wenatchee girls tip against Ellensburg at home at 5:45. The 6 o’clock games have Brewster at Ephrata; Chelan hosts Quincy; Okanogan’s at Omak; Lake Roosevelt entertains Oroville; Pateros is at Liberty Bell; and Waterville-Mansfield takes on A-C-H on the road. Tonight at 7:30 it’s Eastmont opening the season at Moses Lake.

The Wildcats beat West Valley 2-to-1, taking the first game 628-to-614 behind a game-high 191 from Colby Hull. Eastmont took game two 658-to-610 before dropping the finale 610-to-606.

Wenatchee was also victorious at Eastmont Lanes, sweeping three games from Moses Lake with a total pin count of 1,835 to 1,183. High scorer on the day was Mackenzie Munro with a 225 and 163.

Eastmont prepares to take on Wenatchee Thursday at Eastmont Lanes at 3:30.
