In other American League West action, Phil Gosselin went 3-for-5 with 2-runs and 3-RBI’s to lead Los Angeles to an 11-3 win over Texas.

The Padres helped the Mariners gain ground in the Wild Card race with its 8-1 win over Oakland. Former Mariner catcher Austin Nola led the way for San Diego, going 4-for-5 with a run and 2-RBI’s.

West Coast League Scoreboard

In other West Coast League play last night, in what could be a preview of the WCL championship, Corvallis topped Yakima Valley 7-to-1. The Knight’s Ty Uber and two relievers held the Pippins to 1-run on 3-hits as they combined for 13-strikeouts.

Broc Mortensen, Kase Ogata and Matthew Schwarz each hit homers for Cowlitz as the Black Bears beat Ridgefield 9-to-3. Cowlitz used 7-pitchers to hold the Raptors to 3-runs on 3-hits with 11-strikeouts.

The lightning storms that moved through last night halted play in Bend where the Elks were leading Walla Walla 9-5. They’ll pick up the rest of that game today.

Bellingham scored 18-runs on 22-hits in popping the Pickles in Portland 18-nothing. Joey Dixon and two relievers held the Pickles to a 4-hit shutout with 11-strikeouts. Four Bells had at least 3-RBI’s, including homers by Cody Schrier, Cole Hinkelman, and AJ Davis.
