Let’s turn our attention to the final weekend of the high school spring sports season in Washington…
At the 4-A Track and Field Championships at Mt. Tahoma, Wenatchee’s Skyler Walton placed 6th in the 100-meter dash. Nolan Such placed third in the discus and 5th in the shot put. Elizabeth Ferrell was 6th in the Long Jump.
At the 1B/2B/1A meet in Cheney, Entiat’s Colby Crutcher was 5th and Jordy Medrano 7th in the javelin. Cashmere’s 4×100 relay team of Ali Ball, Carley Diaz, Sydney Smith and Chloe Diaz were second.
Entiat’s Drew Duncan was 3rd in the 800-meter run. Manson’s Connor Torgeson finished 4th in the 800-meter run in the 2B race.
Cascade’s Lauren and Kascia Muscutt were 3rd and 4th respectively in the 1-A 800-meter run. Entiat’s Blake Duncan took 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles. Chelan’s Elly Collins was 5th in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Tiger’s Faith Southard was 2nd in the 100-meter dash. Entiat’s 4×100 team of Josh Peterson, Tai Tran, Blake Duncan and Case Crutcher placed 2nd.
Chelan’s 4×100 girls team of Molly Oswald, Elly Collins, Aliya Villasenor and Matea Ivory placed 4th. Cashmere’s team of Hailley Larson, Brianna Hughes, Ali Ball and Chloe Diaz were 6th.
Manson’s Connor Torgeson took 4th in the 400-meter dash. Cascade’s Jace Seely was 5th in that same event on the 1-A side.
Entiat’s Case Crutcher placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles. His school-mates Blake Duncan and Jordy Medrano were 4th and 5th in that race respectively.
Entiat’s Faith Southard took 3rd in the girls 1-B 200-meter dash. Chelan’s Matea Ivory was 6th in that event in the 1-A meet.
The Tiger’s 4×400 relay team of Tai Tran, Blake Duncan, Dale Segel and Case Crutcher took 6th in the 1-B race.
Cascade’s 4×400 girls relay team of Kascia Muscutt, Julia Armstrong, Zoe McDevitt and Lauren Muscutt took 2nd place.
Waterville-Mansfield’s August Koulouris placed 3rd Saturday in the boys triple jump.
Entiat’s Rebecca Giacomazzi placed 4th in the girls Javelin throw.
Waterville-Mansfield’s Alex Poppie is a state champion in the girls long jump.
Cashmere’s Jonathan Ramey was 3rd in the boys high jump.
In the team’s standings, the Cashmere boys placed 6th. Cascade was 7th. The Cashmere girls were 9th with Chelan and Cascade tied for 10th. The Entiat boys finished 4th. The Entiat girls were 13th.
Cashmere sisters claim State Tennis Title
Turning to State Tennis…
Wenatchee’s Luke Andrewjeski finished 8th in boys singles. The doubles team of Kaylynn Noyd and Kara Nelson took 4th.
In Yakima at the 1-A Tournament, Chelan teammates Wyatt Habich and Tobin Wier played each other for 5th and 8th, with Habich coming out on top 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
Doubles team Ryan Cooper and Huber Farias of Cashmere took 4th.
Chelan’s Emma McLaren took 6th and Cascade’s Molly Wiser 8th in the 1-A girls singles tournament.
And the Kert sisters, Aleah and Lauren, were dominant in sweeping their way to a State 1-A Doubles Championship.

The Chelan baseball team wound up taking 3rd at the State 1-A Championships…
The Goats beat Colville in Saturday’s consolation game 7-2 to finish 3rd. The team that beat Chelan in Friday’s semifinal, University Prep, went on to beat Seattle Christian 8-7 for the State Title.
Brewster takes 3rd in 2B Tournament
Brewster was a 3rd place finisher in the State 2-B Championships by beating Rainier 11-to-6 in Saturday’s consolation.
Asotin is the State 2-B Champs after blanking Kalama 2-0.
ACH Repeats as State 1B Baseball Champs
Almira-Coulee-Hartline is again the State 1-B Baseball Champs after beating Odessa 10-0 in Saturday’s title game.
Moses Lake wins State 4A Baseball Crown
And how about the Moses Lake Chiefs! Moses Lake beat Olympia 5-3 to win the State 4-A Championship Saturday. In four State games, the Chiefs allowed a total of four runs while racking up 16 runs on offense.
