Mariner fans will have to wait another season for a shot at the playoffs after Seattle lost two of three to the Angels over the weekend, including 7-3 on Sunday…
Following a split of games Friday and Saturday, Seattle’s chances of reaching the postseason were miniscule Sunday. They needed both Boston and Toronto to lose AND to beat Los Angeles to force a Wild Card play-in game Monday.
The Blue Jays swept Baltimore and the Red Sox rallied for 2-runs in the 9th to beat Washington just as Seattle entered the 9th inning trailing 7-3. That’s when manager Scott Servais pulled Kyle Seager from 3rd base to give him a moment with the fans for what could be his last game in a Seattle uniform…
Seager is a free agent and expected to sign with another team after spending the first 11-years of his career in Seattle.
The Mariners finished the season 90-and-72, their best finish since 2003. And it was the first time since the oh-3 season that Seattle sold out the final homestand of a season.
Boston will host the Yankees in the Wild Card game Tuesday at Fenway Park at 5:08 on ESPN. The National League Wild Card game will be in Los Angeles Wednesday when the Dodgers host the Cardinals at 5:10 on TBS.
