Manson teacher selected as finalist for state Teacher of the Year award


MANSON- Manson School District music teacher Matt Brown has been selected as a finalist for Washington State Teacher of the Year.

The award will be announced by State School Superintendent Chris Reykdal at a ceremony at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle on September 10th. Brown is one of nine finalists from across the state.

Each finalist was recently chosen as the Teacher of the Year for their individual regions of the state. Brown graduated from the University of Washington in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. He teaches sixth through 12th grade band, as well as guitar and piano. He also teaches jazz band and choir.

The nine finalists will meet in Olympia this weekend Sept. 7th-10th to give speeches and conduct interviews. Good luck to Mr. Brown!
