Man who admitted child molestation won’t have his sentence reduced

A Grant County man who pleaded guilty to three counts of child molestation won’t have his sentence reduced.

Craig Russell Jungers

Craig Russell Jungers, 78, of Moses Lake admitted last year to sexually abusing a child between the ages of 7 and 9, and earned a sentence of nine years to life in prison.

In his appeal, Junger said his attorneys failed to win him time to prepare his plea, and he should have been allowed a sentence of rehabilitative treatment rather than prison.

The state Court of Appeals turned down his claims in September, and reaffirmed his sentence in a decision issued this morning.

Jurgens is serving an indeterminate sentence, meaning after nine years, he must be approved for release by a review board.
