A man was killed when his vehicle went off State Route 20 and plunged about 300 feet down a steep embankment.
A passerby somehow spotted the vehicle Tuesday but how long it had been down the embankment is unclear.
The accident was about 32 miles west of Winthrop.
The site is actually in a sliver of Chelan County that juts north, said Trooper John Bryant of the Washington State Patrol.
The identity of the victim has not been released. Officials believe they have identified the man but have yet to notify his next of kin.
There were no other people in the vehicle, he said.
Crews were still trying to retrieve the body and vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
