Man arrested after standoff at Riverfront Park

Wenatchee police say a man suspected of prowling cars at Riverfront Park tried to evade capture by running into the Columbia River. The man was arrested after about an hour and a half standoff with police. Reinfeld says the suspect, who was also wanted on a warrant out of Western Washington, was acting erratically and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Police waited for him to come ashore on his own before making the arrest.

Reinfeld says the man was taken to Central Washington Hospital for treatment and evaluation. He said charges are pending blood toxicology results.
