Several State Champions Crowned from NCW

WENATCHEE, WA – While we were enjoying the Memorial Day holiday yesterday, we didn’t get you the latest on what happened in the final weekend of high school sports for the year…so let’s do that…
The Wenatchee Panther boys baseball team took 4th at the State Tournament, falling to Federal Way Saturday 13-5. Richland is your State Champion.

Cashmere Baseball Takes 3rd Place at 1A Tournament

At the 1A Tournament in Yakima…
Cashmere bounced back from its semifinal loss and beat Cedar Park Christian for 3rd in the State 1A Tournament 6-3. Freeman is the State Champs.

Brewster Finishes 2nd After Falling in Finale

Brewster made it to the State 2B Championship Saturday in Centralia…
But the Bears succumbed to Tri-Cities Prep 14-7 and took 2nd.

ACH Warriors State 1B Champions in Baseball

We do have a State 1B Champion in North Central Washington…
Almira-Coulee-Hartline beat Colton 8-4 to win the title. Congratulations to the Warriors!

Eastmont and Moses Lake Make Early Exit

As we turn to State Softball…
It was a quick exit for both Eastmont and Moses Lake at the State 4A Tournament in Spokane as they lost their two games and were out on Friday.

Cascade Bounced from 1A Softball Tournament

Cascade also had a tough go of it at the 1A Tournament in Richland…
The Kodiaks fell to Elma and then Bellevue Christian to drop out of the tournament.

Brewster and Liberty Bell Bow Out of 2B Tournament

Brewster got to Day 2 of the 2B Tournament in Yakima…
Before they bowed out to Pe Ell/Willapa Valley 13-to-1. Liberty Bell was dropped from the tournament after losing two on Day 1.

Almira-Coulee-Hartline State Softball Champions

How about the weekend for the folks from Almira-Coulee-Hartline?!
The girls softball team also hoisted the State 1B Championship Trophy Saturday in Yakima after downing Quilcene 11-0.

Eastmont Soccer Places 4th in State 4A Tournament

The Eastmont Boys soccer team finished 4th in State this year…
After falling to eventual State Champion Pasco Friday, the Wildcats dropped the 3rd/4th place game Saturday to Sumner 6-to-1.

Cashmere Brother and Sister Win State Tennis Titles

Wenatchee’s girls doubles team of Kaylynn Noyd and Yasmine Qazi took 4th at the State 4A Tennis Championships in Richland…
Meanwhile, the Kert family dominated the State 1A Tournament in Yakima as Tyler took the boys championship and Aleah captured the girls title.

Local NCW Athletes Top Podiums in Track & Field

Now on to the State Track & Field Championships. First, to the 4A meet at Tahoma…
Wenatchee’s Jared Barnes won the state title in the 3200 meter run. The Panther’s Jackson Leeds was 2nd in long jump. Eastmont’s David Baldovinos placed 2nd in the shot put. Wenatchee’s Jaden Christoferson won the state javelin title. Wenatchee’s Elizabeth Ferrell took 2nd in the long jump and 4th in the triple jump. The Panther’s Rae Ann Dressel was 1st in shot put while teammate Ashley Gold was 2nd in discus.

At the 1B/2B/1A Championships in Cheney…
Cascade’s Ashley Parton won the 300-meter hurdle state title. Cashmere’s 4×400 girls relay team was 2nd. The Bulldog’s Hunter Duke won the state javelin championship. Waterville’s August Koulouris placed 2nd in triple jump. Manson’s Fernando Flores won the state shot put title. Waterville’s Evan Simmons was the champion in discus. Entiat’s Allison Haynes won the state shot put title while finishing 2nd in discus. Mika Sanford of Entiat took 3rd in discus and 3rd in high jump.

Mariners Win 4th Straight by Downing Texas 2-1

The Mariners have won 4-in a row and 9 of their last 10 after a 2-1 win over Texas yesterday at Safeco Field…
Macro Gonzalez was stellar again, allowing no earned runs over 6 and 2/3rds with just 4-hits and he picked up his 5th win on the season. Offensively, Seattle just seems to do just enough as Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager delivered RBI-singles in a 2-run 6th. Eight of the Mariner’s last 10-games have been one-run-contests. The Rangers are in town for another game tonight as Felix Hernandez goes up against Texas’ Austin Bibens-Dirkx. First pitch is at 7:10.
