Lake Stevens boy dies from injuries suffered in Dec. 26 sledding accident in Pateros

An 11-year-old Lake Stevens boy has died from injuries he sustained Dec. 26 when a vehicle ran over him while he was sledding on a city street in Pateros.

Tyeson Kane had been at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane since the accident.

He was sledding during a snowstorm on Eveline Street in Pateros when he went into the intersection at Warren Avenue and a driver was unable to stop in time, said Okanagon County Sheriff Tony Hawley. Visibility that day was very poor, he said.

The Lake Stevens community rallied behind the boy as he fought for his life at the hospital. That included a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $17,000 dollars to help the family with expenses.
