Lake Chelan hospital will stop accepting patients and allowing visitors

After having five patients test positive for COVID-19, Lake Chelan Health will temporarily stop admitting new patients and allowing visitors, the hospital announced Friday.

“All positive patients have been placed on isolation and have been separated from non-infected patients,” Lake Chelan Health said in a press release.

All staff at Lake Chelan Community Hospital who had contact with the patients who tested positive will be tested, the release said.

“As can be expected in a pandemic, we have been preparing for situations like this and we have responded with the necessary safety precautions to protect out patients, staff, and community,” the hospital said.

The Emergency Department will remain open but will be limited to only a person seeking emergency services and possibly a support person.

Lake Chelan Health also suspended rehab services, including physical, speech and occupational therapy.

The Chelan-Douglas Health District said Friday it is aware of the situation at the Chelan hospital and is working closely with them.
