2018 labor law increases as small businesses brace for higher costs

Attorney, Gil Sparks discusses changes effective in January to labor laws.

WENATCHEE – Small business owners in the Wenatchee area will probably face additional costs in connection with new labor laws set to go into effect in January.

The new sick and family leave law requires employers provide workers with one hour of time off for every 40 hours worked. It applies for temporary, part-time and full-time workers.

Wenatchee attorney, Gil Sparks is a labor law expert who says small businesses will likely be impacted more than larger scale employers.

Sparks will be offering more information on the new labor laws at a Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce event on November 20th.
