Weekend winds hindered firefighting efforts on the Taneum Fire in Kittitas County.  However, the fire is 90% contained. Meanwhile, helicopters and hand crews are still working to put out hot spots. A preliminary investigation has determined that the cause of the fire’s outbreak was the result of people target practicing in the area on Saturday.

The fire was located in the Taneum Canyon in the seven thousand block of Taneum Canyon Road. Local crews, as well as Federal and State crews, came together to fight the fire. Thankfully no homes were immediately threatened.
