The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit assisted Homeland Security Investigations with a cross border air smuggling investigation on Monday. The narcotics search was on the Okanogan National Forest near the town of Mazama.
Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley says Sergeant Gene Davis and his K-9 partner Gunner assisted with the narcotics search of the area. During the search, K-9 Gunner located two suitcases full of methamphetamine weighing 186 pounds. They located the methamphetamine in a heavy brush area in the National Forest. They estimate the street value of the seized methamphetamine to be around one million dollars.
