Gov. Jay Inslee’s emergency declaration for counties facing flood danger now includes Grant County.
The governor’s office broadened the number of counties affected this morning from 20 to 25, adding south central counties including Grant, Yakima and Kittitas.
Western Washington roads like State Route 4 have already been affected by washouts and mudslides caused by heavy rain.
Inslee’s new declaration points to severe weather forecasts for the southern part of the state through the coming weekend.
Long-range predictions call for a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain or snow for areas around the Yakima Basin by Saturday.
