Inmate sentenced for jailhouse attack

One of two men charged with beating a fellow inmate in the Chelan County Jail has now pleaded guilty.

Joshua James Cornwell, 34, was jailed on drug charges last May when he attacked the inmate, leaving him with a fractured orbital bone around his right eye.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and possession of meth, and received a one-year sentence.

The second suspect in the assault, 40-year-old Rafael Lima of Wenatchee, was indicted last month on a federal charge of possessing a firearm despite a felony conviction.

He faces trial in Spokane federal court in December.
