Wenatchee police say a driver was impaired and speeding when he crashed into a truck trailer Sunday morning near Walla Walla Point Park.

Captain Brian Chance says the crash happened around 8:45 am in the 13-hundred block of Walla Walla Avenue.

Chance says the driver, 27 year old Cody Simmons of East Wenatchee, and his passenger, 27 year old Marlon Majano of Cashmere, had to be extricated from the vehicle.

They were both transported to Confluence Health with serious injuries. Captain Chance says Simmons faces charges of Driving under the influence and vehicle assault. The truck driver was not injured.
