The U.S. Forest Service will reopen Icicle Road on Friday but advises motorists to expect some traffic delays.

The road near Leavenworth provides access to some of the most popular trailheads in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

It has been closed since March 27, when Washington Gov. Jay Inslee issued his Stay Home, Stay Healthy order.

Most trailheads in the national forest will reopen Friday but campgrounds remain closed until sometime in June.

But the spur road off of Icicle Road that accesses Eightmile and Stuart Lake trailheads will be closed until May 31 for trailhead improvements, road grading, and the placement of new gravel surfacing and parking barriers, the Forest Service said.
