WENATCHEE — Dawn Davies, executive director of the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, announced she will retire in June. She’s managed the nonprofit service, which provides animal control and shelter operations in Chelan and Douglas counties, for the last 10 years.
During that time, Davies oversaw creation of a brand new and improved shelter for homeless pets, which offers classes, a pet food bank, and low-cost spay and neuter operations. About 96 percent of animals that arrive at the shelter are rehabilitated and placed in new homes, rather than being euthanized.
The Humane Society board says it’s close to announcing Davies’ replacement.
