Huge boulder cleared after disrupting traffic on Blewett Pass

Blewett Pass near the summit was slow going part of this afternoon as workers remove a large boulder that fell near the roadway.

Flaggers controlled traffic at the site, about 11 miles north of the summit, diverting traffic in both directions around the lane nearest the boulder.

The Washington State Patrol said a large tree in the same area was about to fall. Trooper John Bryant described the boulder as bigger than a trooper’s SUV.

Workers from the Washington State Department of Transportation remove both the boulder and tree.
