Hotel chimney fire diverts Highway 2 traffic in Leavenworth

Chelan County Fire District 3 responds to a chimney fire at the Enzian Inn, 530 Highway 2 in Leavenworth.

LEAVENWORTH — A chimney fire at one of Leavenworth’s best-known hotels briefly forced tenants from their rooms and shut down Highway 2 this morning.

The fire broke out about 5:30 a.m. at the Enzian Inn, 590 Highway 2. No one was injured and the damage was minimal, but Chelan County Fire District 3 had to use its tallest ladder truck to reach the chimney, forcing traffic to be diverted around the site for about an hour.

Fire Chief Kelly O’Brien said although guests had to leave their rooms, they were allowed to stay inside the building, rather than stand outside in 35-degree temperatures.
